eDiscovery User
Privileged User

Sep 24, 2024

0:01 Hello, my name is Robin and I'm going to show you how to use Cryoserver as an e-discovery user, as a privileged user.

0:11 First and foremost, I need to log in with my AD credentials. Then, I need to elevate my role to the e-discovery user using the switch identity feature, and I'm going to select the privileged user.

0:26 Now, I know I'm logged in as the privileged user because there is a "reason for search" option. You can search based on keywords, recipients, or even keywords inside attachments.

0:40 I'm going to search for emails sent to a specific email address. I'll use the control button and space on my keyboard.

0:48 The system can also suggest email addresses based on the date range I'm looking at. Now, I'm going to press search.

0:59 As an e-discovery user, I need to state a reason for why I'm searching across all people's emails. So, I'll enter "training session" as my reason.

1:12 Once I'm happy with my reason, I'll press search, and it has found 319 results.

1:21 I might want to refine my search, add more criteria, or broaden the search to a one-year period.

1:28 You could also use the calendar approach as an alternative technique. Now, I've refined my search and got 44 results.

1:40 I can open one of these emails, flip to the next message, download a copy of this particular message, or even restore it back to my mailbox.

1:53 When I click "back to results," the message I was just on a moment ago is highlighted here.

2:02 If I click on a different message and go back to my results, number 21 is now at the top.

2:10 At the top, we have the capability to export. When I click on export, we've got a lot of choices.

2:19 You can export to a zip file, export all the results into a single PDF without attachments, export to a PST, or export to a PDF with attachments. What you download is a zip file containing the PDF and all the attachments from the results.

2:41 With exports, you need to give it a name. You can preserve the sort order. I'll export to a PDF with attachments.

2:53 You have the choice of "plain" (just the text) or "formatted" (text and graphics). The "PDF archival" option is formatted but also stores the fonts from the emails in the PDF file.

3:10 Now, I'll press continue. So, where do you find the export? It's found under the exports tab, and initially, it's at zero.

3:24 Depending on how many results you're exporting, it will dictate how long the export takes to complete, and it's now completed.

3:35 You can then download that zip file containing the PDF and attachments. Want to dive into the advanced search?

3:46 The advanced search is really for power users who want to include specific things. On the right-hand side, you can exclude things you don't want.

3:56 You can apply keywords to just the messages and the subject, or maybe to the attachments as well. You type your keywords here.

4:08 This double arrow reveals alternative search criteria, allowing you to do things like sound-alike searches. One example is finding words that sound similar to "Cryoserver" but excluding the exact word "Cryoserver."

4:27 These searches take a little longer, so I'll slim down the date range.

4:33 Thank you very much. The system has found misspellings of the word "Cryoserver," with the first one showing a misspelling where there's an extra "R" before the "V."

4:43 The search history area shows your previous searches, and depending on how many you've done, it will dictate how long this page takes to load.

4:50 And that's a quick tour of the product. Thanks for watching!
